The Senior Admins and I have been discussing the current state of Vs3 and it is clear something must be done to improve things. This topic will be regularly updated to keep everyone informed about the changes as they take place.

Server Closures

Vs3 currently has too many unpopulated servers which are contributing to fragmentation within the community and are negatively impacting morale. As such the following servers have been closed, effectively immediately:

GunGame
TF2 Server 1 (non-premium server)

It is entirely possible that more servers will be closed in the near future.

Members

Vs3 currently has approximately 50 members, including admins, many of whom are not active within the community. It has been decided that a general clean-up exercise will take place in the coming days to remove any inactive members. Activity will be based on the following:

- Server activity;
- Forum activity;
- TeamSpeak activity; and
- General activity and commitment to the Vs3 community.

I can see some people will get worried about being kicked, but the chances are if you're actually posting in response to this topic you will probably be deemed sufficiently active to not have your membership status removed.

For those members who have been completely inactive for sometime and do get removed there will always be the chance to come back if and when activity improves.

Forum Etiquette

The quality of some posts on the forum have been particularly low and in some cases inflammatory. Guidelines will be posted shortly to provide guidance on what's appropriate for the forum. Going forwards any abusive of massively off topic posts will be removed and repeat offenders will likely find themselves put into the spammers group and will require approval before they can post.

Administrators

The administrator hierarchy will be simplified and consist of the following ranks:

Trial Admin (basic access to server administrator tools)
Admin (full access to server administration tools)
High Admin (full access to server administration tools and forum moderation privileges)
Senior Admin (full access to server administration tools, forum moderation privileges and server management access)

All admins, except Senior admins, will share the same forum rank and avatar.

After careful deliberation Vs3 have decided that dealing with the continued attacks, and the huge support effort involved in maintaining the Perp server, is no longer viable at this moment in time. As such I regret to inform everyone that the Perp server will be shutting down this month.

This decision was not an easy one to make and a great deal of effort has gone into keeping the server running over the past months. As of right now the future of a Garry's Mod based server is uncertain, but it is possible we may look at hosting one again in the future.

A backup will be taken of the database to ensure we can restore the serve to what is was should we decide to bring it back at some point, however, please do not take this as a promise the server will be back. Right now it won't.

We've seen huge growth in the Vs3 community due to the popularity of the Perp server and I'm keen to see that continue. I would encourage everyone to play on our other servers and put forwards any ideas they have for improving and expanding Vs3.

Vs3 is open to suggestions from the wider community about other game modes and hopefully the Senior leadership and I will have more time to devote to Vs3 during the summer months.
